Subject: MAINTENANCE OF GENERAL BUS STAND MAINTAINED BY MCS
The undersigned is directed to refer to the subject cited above and to state that as per provision of rules 253 and 256 of Motor Vehicle Rules, 1969 the following facilities are to be provided in the “C” Class General Bus stand maintained by the Metropolitan Corporation/ Municipal Corporations / Committees:
Maintain such records as the Regional Transport Authority may from time to time direct;
Employ such staff at the stand as may be specified in the order;
Provided waiting rooms for the largest number of passengers that may reasonably be expected to use the stand at any one time, including separate accommodation for women;
Provide suitable lavatories for both sexes’
Provided rest rooms for the drivers and conductors Of the vehicles regularly kept at the stand;
Provide an adequate supply of drinking water of, passengers, drivers and all persons likely to be employed at the stand.
Provide Covered accommodation Or Other form Of shelter for all the vehicles regularly kept at the stand or for such percentage those vehicles as the Regional Transport Authority may specify;
Provide for the illumination Of the stand at night;
Provide, a separate portion of the stand, facilities for washing and cleaning vehicles and for executing ordinary repairs.
- The following additional measures may also be taken:
The bays constructed for halting/parking of buses are properly maintained and in good condition with adequate shelters,
GBS be made safe & secure after employing CCTV Cameras etc.
Loudspeakers be installed to keep public alert and awarded about security measures.
First Aid kit and fire extinguisher be provided at GBS.
All temporary/permanent encroachments be removed
Cleanliness be maintained after deployment of sufficient sanitary workers. - You are therefore requested to ensure provisions of these facilities in the all General Bus Stands maintained by the Metropolitan Corporation / Municipal Corporations / Municipal Committees within one month positively and send a compliance report.
